- Plant breeding experience, developed conducting two Rice breeding programs in Southern Africa during eleven years.
- Agronomic research and variety evaluation (VCU & DUS) of various crops and pastures have been major topics in several assignments:
- Seed production and seed technology have been an important subject during thirty years as agronomist. Public and private seed production schemes have been organized in dissimilar environments and socio-economical situations in Latin America and Southern Africa.
-Post harvest management training received at specialized centers (Brazil and Sweden) has been consolidated by two decades planning and handling seed processing plants, grain dryers, storage facilities and seed quality laboratories. The permanent contact with subsistence and family sector farmers have also provided an extensive experience with traditional pos-harvest and storage management methods
-Experience in farming systems under different environments (temperate, subtropical and semi-arid) and social contexts (subsistence, family sector and commercial farming). - In Guinee Bissau, as Team Leader of a Seed Technical Mission, a development proposal for the national seed industry was approved by the Swedish International Development Agency and included as a chapter of the agency long term aid programme.
- In Uruguay, as Coordinator of the Work Planning Team of a municipal government, designed a five years regional development programme, which included governance transparency & decentralization, communications, public participation, tourism and agriculture improvement.

2- Activities in the private sector include:
- Three years as Advisor Officer of two farmers´ cooperatives in Uruguay. In charge of the farmers technical assistance and the seed supply program.
- Ten years as commercial farmer (1978 – 1988, Uruguay) managing own agribusiness: active member of farmers cooperatives and unions; chairman of the National Soybean Growers Association (1985-88, Uruguay) and Board member of the National Agrarian Entities (1986-88). It required involvement in negotiations with banks (credits), governement (agricultural policies) and agricultural product traders (sales, exports, prices, etc.).
- Two years as General Manager of a farmer’s cooperative committed to seed trade business (with an annual turn over of 5 million USD, in Uruguay).
